Human brain grows fastest in the first 3 years of the lives. The earliest experience shape the brain development. The most important role is played by you in your child's developmental journey. You can help your baby achieve their fullest potential by doing these simple activities at home.

  1. Allow them to play with your face - when your newborn is awake and in happy mood, lay them on a play mat and bring your face close to them almost 8-10 away from their face. Make different faces, stick out your tongue or talk to them, infants recognize faces early on, your face is special for them. Each time they stare at you, they are building their memory. They start imitating the facial expressions as young as 6 months, it's a sign of very early problem-solving.

  2. Communicate -

Sing songs - Make your own tune, make your song and sing to them while changing diaper and feeding them. research suggest that understanding of a musical rhythm forms the foundation for mathematics.

Give them hints - Say "I'm going to turn on the light now" before flipping the switch, or "I'm going to run the bath" before turning on the faucet. Doing so teaches a child cause-and-effect.

  1. Play Peekaboo - It may seem a very simple game to you but it does wonders for baby. Your baby learns that objects can disappear and then come back. it also help them build the working memory.

  2. Provide textures - Keep a box of various textured fabrics, such as silk, terry cloth, wool, and linen. Gently rub each cloth on your baby's cheek, feet, and tummy, describing the way it feels. for eg: when you rub velvet on their, how does it feel ? it feels soft. It stimulates their sense of touch as well as make them understand how different textures feel different.

  3. Read books - Again and again! Babies as young as 8 months can learn to recognize the sequence of words in a simple story when it's read two or three times in a row, a skill that is believed to help them learn language. They also learn early understanding of language, sound and pauses when you read books to them.

  4. Fun games - collect several cups or plastic containers of different sizes, and let your child pour water from one into another during bath time. Sometimes they'll pour too much; other times, too little. Talk about which cups are bigger and which are smaller. This builds early understanding of small, big and containment.
